Caldwell Zoo
Caldwell Zoo is one of the most respected mid-sized zoos in the South, covering 85 acres in east Tyler with more than 2,000 animals across North American, African, and South American habitats. Opened in 1953 and fully accredited by the AZA, it draws over 400,000 visitors annually and is a perennial favorite for school field trips, family reunions, and corporate team outings. The zoo is open daily from 9am to 5pm, with extended summer hours on select dates — confirm current hours on the official site before your visit.
The official plan-your-visit page places the main entrance just off the intersection of West Gentry Parkway and Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard. Groups of 15 or more qualify for published group rates when everyone is present and pays in one transaction, so organize the group at the gate before entering.
